Change Database
Change Database allows you to connect to a different SQL Server database or instance.
License Manager can connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or later, whether installed on your local computer or on a remote server. To connect to a different SQL Server, you will need to know:
- The name of the computer it is running on
- The name of the instance it is installed as
Your IT support department should be able to provide you with these details if necessary.
- Click Change Database in the settings menu.
- Type in the SQL Server Name. The correct format is SQL-SERVER-COMPUTER-NAME\INSTANCE-NAME.
- Select the authentication type to use for the SQL Server.
- If you are creating a new database and type in the New Database Name. If you have an existing License Manager database, select Open an Existing Database and select it from the drop-down list.
- Click the Test Connection button to verify the entered details are correct. If successful, a connection succeeded message will be displayed. If there is a problem, an error message will appear. Click OK to close the message.
- Click OK to close the License Manager database setup screen.
Please note: If you change to a database that has not been licensed to the current version of License Manager, the Update License task is automatically started.
